Biography

Dr. Alison Grossman received her graduate education in psychology from Columbia University and the University of Miami. She completed her clinical training in medical and psychiatric departments at many of the major teaching hospitals in New York City and Miami. As a faculty member of the Department of Neurology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, Dr. Grossman served for many years as the primary psychologist for the Kessenich Family MDA/ALS Center and the International Center for Epilepsy. She worked extensively with patients and families facing serious, chronic illnesses. Dr. Grossman currently maintains her affiliation with the Department of Neurology as an Adjunct Assistant Professor.

Dr. Grossman's research has focused on mind/body relationships and the psychological and cognitive aspects of chronic medical illnesses. In 2004 she received the Stanley Glaser Biomedical Research Award of the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine for her work in Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (Lou Gehrig's Disease). She has published several peer-reviewed journal articles, and her findings have been presented at national and international scientific meetings.

In her private practice, Dr. Grossman provides psychological evaluation and treatment to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. She has considerable training and experience in working with patients with a wide range of problem areas. Since she is well versed in traditional and complementary techniques, treatment is tailored to meet the individual needs of each patient, and always in a most caring and supportive atmosphere.
